Zee Santiago has opened for Hip Hop superstars such as Drake, Lupe Fiasco, Fabolous, Juelz Santana, Dj Unk, Mike Jones, K’naan, Common, & KRS-One. In doing so he has graced the stage at a number of legendary music venues & colleges, including the famous Apollo Theater, SOB’s (Sounds of Brazil), New Yorican Poetry Café, Bowery Poetry Club, Toad’s Place (New Haven), Yale University, Wesleyan University, Trinity College, & Southern Connecticut State University. Outside of writing and performing, Zee is a grassroots organizer, and an established Hip Hop academic. In the fall Fall of 2006, he founded the first college chapter of KRS-ONE’s organization Temple of Hip Hop, and since 2006. he has produced the Annual Trinity International Hip Hop Festival, which has become the foremost world hip-hop festival in the United States. He has worked with Hip Hop luminaries such as Jeff Chang (author of Can’t Stop Wont Stop), Charlie Ahern (Director of Wildstyle), Byron Hurt (Director of Hip Hop Beyond Beats & Rhymes) and pioneers like Grandmaster Caz, Tony Tone of The Cold Crush Brothers, DJ Disco Wiz, Fab 5 Freddy and Pop Master Fable of Rock Steady Crew. Within the last four years, Santiago has received coverage from the BBC, NPR, The New York Post, The Hartford Advocate, The Chicago Tribune, XXL and URB magazine.
